I had great fun writing this tongue-in-cheek piece about how to (not) contact IT. My writing style tends to gravitate toward a more formal or even academic tone, but enjoyed experimenting with a little humor here and felt comfortable doing so since it’s a topic with which I am intimately familiar.
With shadow IT becoming an ever more pronounced phenomenon, these tips also seem timely since users are becoming increasingly empowered in managing technology. Of course, the ideal scenario is one in which IT and the users have a close, collaborative partnership, but that’s a subject for another post (maybe this one, which discusses how to surmount the IT jargon barrier for better business collaboration).
